Metarizer is a Joomla! 1.5 native content plugin that adds, changes or replaces Meta tags on individual content items! Just add a Metarizer tag to your content as follows:

{meta keywords}key, word{/meta}

Metarizer supports the following modifiers:

• append: {meta keywords|append}key, word{/meta}
• prepend: {meta keywords|prepend}key, word{/meta}
• replace: {meta keywords|replace}key, word{/meta}
• http_equiv mode: {meta refresh|replace,true}2;url=http://jeffchannell.com{/meta}

Metarizer also has whitelist filtering, so only administrator approved meta tags can be changed. It also has a special option to enable IE7 compatibility mode in IE8!

I know that Joomla! core allows this very thing for articles. This plugin is aimed towards other components, such as VirtueMart, that do not have this option.
